'Living with Coyotes,' was brought about to address the public's concerns for their pet's safety in regards to urban coyotes. The coyotes of Lafayette neighborhoods have made the news several times in the last few years, and it is clear that the urban and suburbanites of Indiana are in need of guidance in terms of co-existing with coyotes. It is difficult to acquire data on actual urban coyote numbers, but we can pretty safely say that there are now more coyotes in urban spaces than ever before. As the Urban Wildlife Biologist for the northern half of the state, and a lover of all canines both wild and domestic, it is important for me to reach out to the public and arm them with the necessary information for peaceful co-existence. For the workshop, we have invited in a variety of speakers, including: myself (wildlife biologist), a conservation officer, a coyote rehabilitator, and a nuisance wildlife operator. We will all give short presentations and then have a question and answer session for the whole panel. The workshop is on Wednesday, June 15th, 6:00 p.m. at the Lafayette Ivy Tech.
