I just wanted to share this. It pretty much defines my life.
Robert Frost--
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I
I took the one less traveled by.
And that has made all the difference.
On that note, remember it's National Cornchip Day.

I've wanted to write about this for a few days now, but I decided to wait for all the hubbub to calm down--if there was any. Beyonce lip synced at the Presidential Inauguration. Scandal--hardly--but there are a lot of people that get upset when their favorite artist gets caught lips syncing at an expensive concert. I'd be ticked off too if, say, Train, which doesn't dance around the stage, lip synced. But we're talking Britney, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber--you wanted a show. Explosions, dancing, hard core parkour. If you really think an artist can sustain a note under those conditions...
Lip syncing is your fault. A lot of these artists that get caught are trying to put on a show, not a concert. You demanded more. It wasn't enough that someone had a great voice and sang songs we all connected with.
As for Beyonce. That's a lot of pressure. It was cold outside. And performance conditions were far, far from ideal--not to mention you don't get to rehearse in the space. Go easy on the lip syncers. You created them. You support them...unless they happened to be Milli Vanilli.

Lance Armstrong and Jodie Foster.
Will Lance admit to doping? I could care less about cycling. I do care when a man who is held up to be a saint and calls his teammates liars, cheats to achieve. I do care when a media star uses his money and influence to groom a public imaged to become an icon and role model to the youth of America. I reserve judgment until after Thursday.
Jodie. Your speech brought tears to some, mostly those closest to you. In a rambling way, you danced around a personal truth that wasn’t really news to anyone. That sharing is all well and good if as a media star you are willing to become a role model to people young and old who struggle to live openly without fear of reprisal—but that is not an obligation, despite what some might think. More importantly, what I took away from your speech and the award you received for your career is this; you work hard, you are good at what you do and you do good by the people who do good by you—you try to be a good person. Even though you’re a “star” you seem like a real person—normal, you might say.
I never saw Jodie on a cereal box, or endorsing sports clothing, or cars, or soliciting millions of dollars for her own charitable foundation. Sure, both are worth millions. Both Jodie and Lance are recognizable names in virtually all homes in America, but both send two different messages--the cereal box is a dead give away. I know who I would choose as a role model.

A new year -- a new promise. Blog, blog, blog. It's gonna be a big year at Wazy, I can just feel it. And I think it's going to be a big year for music. Justin Timberlake dropped a new single, Suit & Tie. I just heard it this morning and I think it's great! It might be making an appearance during Kick It or Keep It soon. |
